Hullabaloo with Common Core is...

What's the hullabaloo with Common Core?

Just wanted you to know, in case you're wondering.

  1. LISD Board of Ed is unified in upholding and exercising the right of states and local districts to determine which curriculum is delivered to their own children.
  2. Common Core (curriculum, instruction modes and assessments) is developed in Washington, D.C., thus diminishing local control.
  3. Common Core includes penalties which negatively impact local control of local neighborhood schools.
  4. Educate yourself as to what the 10th Amendment of U.S. Constitution states.   Bill of Rights, U.S. Constitution
  5. TEKS are developed within the state of Texas.
  6. LISD Curriculum is rooted in the TEKS, but delivered according to local citizenry's preferences.
  7. Texas State Board of Education is receptive to input from educators regarding much needed revision and update of current TEKS.

Stay informed; get involved.  Call the Texas State Board of Education. Express thanks and appreciation for valuing input of educators in the process of curriculum revision. Call SBOE and express thanks for inviting input from educators   Phone calls are superior to email. Live person/s answer; make note of your comment and pass along to the rep.  Call others beyond your rep too.
